Manages the strategic direction and day-to-day activities of the Projects and Services Division of the Department of Technology. Manages project management resources and oversees the technology service desk, which provides frontline support for various departments. Collaborates with department leaders to develop programs and projects. Manages the portfolio of programs and projects within the Information Technology department, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives. Oversees the efficient and effective execution of projects, including monitoring and reporting on resources, budgets, and timelines. Assesses and mitigates risks for technology projects. Guides IT staff in adopting and implementing efficient project management practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Oversees the Information Technology (IT) project portfolio to meet organizational objectives.
Implements project management best practices, monitoring budgets, timelines, and risks associated with IT projects.
Promotes continuous service improvements and manages change control processes to ensure effective delivery of IT services.
Communicate strategies and plans to stakeholders and executive leadership.
Supervise teams, including Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Service Desk employees.
Oversee personnel by planning and assigning work, managing performance, addressing personnel issues, conducting performance evaluations, establishing training schedules, and handling hiring and disciplinary actions.
Sets priorities, develops project plans, and allocates project resources for approved projects.
Manage vendor relationships and agreements.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in computer science or a related field supplemented by extensive professional experience in portfolio and project management; five to ten years related experience and/or training in project management, technical staff development, team building and staff supervision; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
