Public Safety Staff
Brentwood School, a vibrant and diverse K-12 independent school, is looking for a full time Public Safety staff member. The Department of Public Safety works in partnership with the Maintenance and Food Services Departments and its members will, at times, assist those departments to facilitate the delivery of service according to the needs of the school. This is an evening position, and employee must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays.
The Public Safety staff member’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as a First Responder to emergency situations on the school campuses
- Make periodic tours to secure areas
- Provide customer service to students, parents, faculty, staff, visitors, and guests
- Mitigate disruptive occurrences
- Deter crimes
- Check for irregularities and safety hazards on campus
- Examine protection devices and fire control equipment to insure they have been properly inspected
- Preserve order and enforce regulations pertaining to parking, visitors, and public order
- Assist with the functions of physical and personal security and safety measure of staff, students, parents, faculty, and visitors
- Protect faculty, staff, students, parents, and visitors from theft, damage, or injury
- Protect constituents from hazards or interference, including the potential from violence in the workplace
- Clean, maintain, adjust, calibrate, and service equipment
In addition, a candidate should possess the following personal and professional qualities:
- Graduation from High School, supplemented by completion of a Union, private, military, or trade school apprenticeship program
- Bureau of Security and Investigative Services Certification/Guard Card preferred
- Excellent collaboration and organizational skills
- The ability to engage and support students of varied identities, lifestyles, and beliefs
- Strong collaboration and cross-cultural competence
- Commitment to equity and inclusion
- A sense of humor and energy
- Strong communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency
- A clear driving record
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedural manuals
- Ability to write accurate, clear, and concise reports
- Computer proficiency including the use of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and email
- Engage in professional and personal development and commit to growth in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion
- Participate and initiate opportunities that demonstrate one's growth, knowledge, and skills
- The ability to speak Spanish is preferred
While being vaccinated for COVID-19 is not required, it is strongly recommended.
COMPENSATION: Brentwood School's employment requirements vary, from positions requiring no experience to those needing 30+ years of expert experience. Our salary range includes all levels of experience, from $20.40 - $25.50 per hour. Salaries are determined based on years of experience, education, full- or part-time status, the category of the role, and the number of months of worked per school year. Salary ranges do not include benefits, i.e. 403b retirement matching, paid lunch time, free breakfast and lunch, free parking, subsidy toward medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D plans, and generous time off. The pay range is an estimate and is not guaranteed. If hired, your actual base salary will be determined by your education, experience, and category.
