Visit Carlsbad is the Destination Marketing Organization for the coastal city of Carlsbad, California and is funded through the Carlsbad Tourism Business Improvement District.

Position Overview
The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for helping position Carlsbad as a premiere travel destination through its marketing efforts including earned and paid channels.
This is a task-oriented position that helps ensure projects progress according to plan. This position provides support and facilitates communication; acts as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders to ensure collaboration and effective communication; and assists in the planning, scheduling, and tracking of progress of projects.
The Marketing Coordinator is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Vice President of Marketing & Communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Marketing Associate with social media initiatives, including social media generation, posting and research.
- Post content and web copy changes on the company website using our Content Management System.
- Utilize the Customer Relationship Management system (IDSS) to help manage partner listings and database information.
- Help prepare copy, photos, and graphics for the company Partner Newsletter.
- Work with the VP of Marketing & Communications on destination branding campaigns including gathering assets and liaising with our agency.
- Work with agency of record on projects relating to paid media campaigns including coordinating meetings and details supporting photoshoots and filming.
- Work with business partners to collect collateral & assets, update offers/deals and other needed items as guided by the Marketing & Communications staff.
- Update stakeholder and community email database.
- Maintain product knowledge of the destination, especially as it relates to the needs of our target consumer audiences & personas.
- Ensure adherence to brand standards through all channels.
- Assist the Communications Manager in day-to-day needs for media outreach and content development.
- Participate in tasks that support media visits, content creators and familiarization tours such as making dinner and activity arrangements and outreach to partners to support upcoming events.
- Input data and work cross functionally to maintain metrics in the Visit Carlsbad internal dashboard.
- Help maintain content for Visit Carlsbad’s website, online pressroom and media kits.
Qualifications
- Minimum one year of marketing or administrative experience
- Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience supporting and working on marketing programs
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience working with external entities, vendors or partners
- Ability to learn and use digital platforms such as a CRM and CMS systems
- Dependable, highly motivated team player with a great attitude
- Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Ability to prioritize, meet multiple deadlines, and work independently
