The Senior Specialist, Employee Communications is responsible for writing content and managing an extensive range of internal projects, including articles, emails, digital announcements, video scripts, executive speeches and presentations. This position will work closely with Manager, Corporate Communications.
Topics may include, but are not limited to safety, clean energy, sustainability, operations enhancements, customer service and employee initiatives/accomplishments. Through written and multimedia channels, the Senior Specialist, Employee Communications will work across various departments to create relevant content that engages the intended audience.
Responsibilities
- Writing content and managing an extensive range of internal projects, including articles, emails, digital announcements, video scripts, executive speeches and presentations.
- Work collaboratively with subject matter experts, videographer, photographer, and graphic designers to ensure content is accurate and visually appealing.
- Translate complex ideas into usable content for internal audiences.
- Use metrics, where possible, to develop, support and improve communications.
- Act as project coordinator within the organization, helping to manage internal relationships to deliver all elements of corporate communication initiatives.
- Develop employee communication campaigns that engage and result in support of corporate initiatives.
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
Skills
- Demonstrated experience writing content for an extensive range of communications targeting employees, customers, or the general public, including but not limited to articles, emails, digital announcements, video scripts, executive speeches and presentations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to fact-check, edit and proofread own materials.
- Ability to interact professionally at all levels of the company, from field employees to executives.
- Demonstrated ability to create interesting, clear, and creative content for a variety of audiences.
- Possess the skills to make all communications relevant, interesting, and engaging for the intended audience.
- Possess a sharp eye for details, the ability to juggle multiple projects, plan and manage deadline and work both independently and with teams.

- Sustain trusted relationships with colleagues.
- Willing to learn and upload work to content management system for intranet.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and flexible to handle multiple assignments.
- Must be able to respond to company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- A broad understanding and interest in safety, energy industry, and environmental issues, a plus.
- Experience with still/video photography and/or graphics, a plus.
- Experience in media relations, a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, English or other related area.
- 7-10 years of directly related written communications / copywriting work experience.
- Must have valid driver’s license and be able to travel within the service territory.
