The position of Research IT Endpoint Specialist is under the direction of the Research Information Technology (RIT) department in the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) division. This is a full-time, 12-month, administrative professional position reporting directly to the Endpoint Support & Network Services Lead of Research IT.
This position will collaborate with the endpoint team to support standard computers within the OVPR division, which includes over 500 computing devices across 14 departments and 22 units, serving more than 350 personnel. The ability and willingness to travel to four CSU campuses for in-person assistance is essential to provide effective technology support in a fast-paced, dynamic higher education environment.
The position of Research IT Endpoint Specialist is primarily responsible for maintaining and optimizing the performance, security, and functionality of instrumentation workstations maintained by the Analytical Resources Core (ARC). These specialized, vendor-provided computers directly connect to scientific equipment and require tailored support. Due to the unique hardware and proprietary software, many workstations cannot undergo standard software updates. The systems include a mix of legacy Windows and Linux operating systems, which are maintained according to vendor requirements. To safeguard these devices, the Specialist ensures they are strategically placed behind firewalls or remain air-gapped, optimizing security while maintaining operational integrity.
This position is in Fort Collins, Colorado, and is expected to be on-site during regular business hours.
