Offers will be based on the skill, knowledge, and experience a job candidate brings to the job and is consistent with other employees performing the same or similar work.
Some of what you'll be doing:
As a Senior Environmental Management Specialist, you will support the ground transportation sustainability program, focusing on reducing environmental impacts, particularly greenhouse gas emissions, from ground transportation at SEA Airport. You will provide solutions to moderately complex environmental issues by conducting reviews, and research, and analyzing data for annual metrics, tracking, and reporting.
- You will conduct and review specialized environmental studies and assist with developing scope, schedule, and budgets.
- You will conduct research to assist in integrating new or updated technologies and business practices that pertain to environmental and sustainability programs.
- You will compile and evaluate environmental data in Port-owned and operated properties, buildings and facilities, industry activities, and in support of established Port programs.
- You will develop educational and informational materials and conduct presentations regarding general sustainability issues to Port employees, stakeholders, and the public.
- You will actively participate in design and construction reviews to help identify and mitigate environmental impacts.
- You will contribute to the development and management of the budget for assigned projects/programs and support reporting requirements for grants.
- You will coordinate contract management with the Central Procurement Office by providing information needed for contracts, contract amendments, and service directives.
- You will participate and contribute to the development of environmental plans and strategies to accomplish environmental goals.
Who you are:

Experienced – You have two (2) years of environmental and/or sustainability experience.

Desired – We hope you have a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Physical Sciences, Engineering, Economics, Environmental Management, Planning or Policy.

Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). .

Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.

Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.

Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
